To honor legendary Bruin Jackie Robinson, one of UCLA’s most celebrated alumni and the first player to break the color barrier in Major League Baseball, UCLA planned to unveil a 42-inch-tall “42” bronze monument on campus. How do we create excitement for the event without revealing the surprise “42"? The solution was to showcase facts about Jackie’s illustrious life that were represented numerically, highlighting the scale of his impact on the world. This concept generated much anticipation for the unveiling, as well as honoring a legend that lives on in the long-term establishment of this monument.
